Every journey begins with a first few steps. When the Prayer Spaces in Schools journey began, we had no idea just how far and deep it would take us.
The first prayer spaces in schools happened in 2007. Christians in four towns across England, each working with their local schools, took the model of a 24-7 Prayer Room and adapted it for a school setting. As a response to the growing popularity Prayer Spaces in Schools was officially launched in 2010 as a project of 24-7 Prayer, an international, interdenominational prayer movement. Since then the idea has spread rapidly, inspiring the creation of thousands of prayer spaces in schools in more than 37 countries.
In response to growing interest, Prayer Spaces in Schools Ireland was established in 2015 to resource and equip the church across both Northern Ireland and ROI to serve their local schools through creative prayer. Since then, it has become a growing hub for the network of practitioners in Ireland who run prayer spaces in a variety of contexts across the land.
Prayer Spaces in Schools is a project of 24-7 Prayer Ireland (Charity No. 109224 / Company No. NI688890), and is accountable to 24-7’s leadership team and Board. Find out more about 24-7 Prayer Ireland at www.24-7prayerireland.com
Our mission is the same as it always has been – to equip churches to serve the ongoing practical pastoral and spiritual life of their local schools
